Princeton Review party schools 2010 crowns University of Georgia

Princeton Review party schools 2010 were introduced Monday. This year, University of Georgia is No. 1 on Princeton Review’s popular party school list. University of Georgia officials pointed to how their school placed within the more acceptable categories published in Princeton Review college ratings. Anti-party college Brigham Young University was no. 1 within the ratings for “stone-cold sober schools.

UGA tops party school list for the first time

UGA has appeared within the Princeton party school rankings 10 times since the list started in 1992. This year, the university claimed the top spot for the first time. The Associated Press reports that nearly 100 bars surround the UGA campus within the small town of Athens, Ga. Parties are part of student life from August to May each year. The weekend parties start on Thursday and last until class on Monday morning for numerous students. A UGA spokesman told AP the list is not one the school wants to lead. He said he’d rather emphasize that in other Princeton Review college rankings, the school made the top 50 “Best Values” list and the “Green Honor Roll” of one of the most environmentally conscious campuses.

State universities dominate the Princeton party school list

When the Princeton Review party school rankings were released, freshmen boys and girls bound for the University of Georgia probably got just a little more excited, reports AOL News. Following the usual pattern, state schools make up many of the top 10 in 2010. Ohio University in nearby Athens came in just behind UGA. Georgia beat out Pennsylvania State University, West Virginia University and University of Florida – which were the top Princeton party schools over the last three years.

UGA’s recent history earns its Princeton party school ranking

Although it began a number of initiatives to cut down on student drinking and temper the school’s party image, UGA rose to the top of the Princeton party school rankings. The university has instituted harsh penalties for students violating football tailgating rules and getting caught drinking. UGA tailgaters trashed the historic North Campus following a September 2009 game, dumping about 70 tons of garbage. Some people urinated and defecated on buildings. And previous athletic director Damon Evans resigned last month, shortly after his drunken driving arrest. Before Evans was arrested, he taped public service announcements for the university urging students not to drink and drive.
